Teladan Success in "Ngundhuh Piwulangan Mpu Tantular" Project Exhibition: An Inspirational P5 Project with the Theme "Bhineka Tunggal Ika"
On Thursday, October 12, 2023, SMA N 1 Yogyakarta proudly hosted the P5 Project Exhibition, an event showcasing various student projects by Class X Phase E. The exhibition, entitled "Ngundhuh Piwulangan Mpu Tantular," holds a special meaning and significance. The word "MPU" is an acronym for "Memayu Paraning Urub." "Memayu" means beautify, "paraning" means purpose or towards, and "urub" means life. "Memayu Paraning Urub" refers to the action of beautifying one's purpose in life, while "TANTULAR" refers to the idea of clear and harmonious expression. Therefore, when taken as a whole, "MPU TANTULAR" signifies that humans should always strive to enhance everything around them, be it in terms of art, culture, traditions, customs, or other aspects, harmoniously and without division. The meaning and significance of "MPU TANTULAR" are related to the concept of unity, beauty, harmony, and peace, often associated with cultural and traditional differences in each region, in line with the chosen project theme, "Bhineka Tunggal Ika."
This event serves as an appreciation and acknowledgment of the students' hard work in creating a piece of work, showcasing their creativity and innovation in line with the theme "Bhineka Tunggal Ika." The exhibition was attended by students, teachers, parents, and was inaugurated by the Head of Education and Culture Office of Yogyakarta City. The event began with a welcome speech from the school's principal, emphasizing the importance of the P5 project as a tangible embodiment of character education, leadership, and social responsibility. The principal also underscored the vital role of student collaboration with all stakeholders in pursuing this noble goal.
The exhibition featured various types of P5 project works successfully undertaken by Class X Phase E students at SMA N 1 Yogyakarta. It not only showcased these projects but also provided an opportunity for the students to share their experiences, challenges they faced, and the positive impacts they created. Through their presentations, students were able to inspire others and motivate them to contribute to artistic, innovative, and creative endeavors while upholding the noble values and character of the nation within the framework of "Bhineka Tunggal Ika."
The inaugural project, with the theme "Bhineka Tunggal Ika" entitled "Mpu Tantular," presented the natural wealth, traditions, culture, and uniqueness of 9 provinces/regions. The traditions and uniqueness of each region exhibited included Traditional Houses, Traditional Costumes, Regional Cuisine, Figures, and Local Arts.
By exploring the potential and literacy related to Indonesia's regional diversity, students gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for Indonesia's diverse, unique, and impressive culture. The audience also learns valuable lessons from the exhibitions, fostering a sense of unity and togetherness.
The first project's learning outcomes expanded the horizons of students, teachers, and all stakeholders who had previously only seen these aspects virtually/online. The "Mpu Tantular" Exhibition marked the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum by the school for the 2023/2024 academic year, specifically focusing on project-based learning to cultivate students' character. The successful opening of this P5 project exhibition with the BTI theme has successfully ignited the spirit and character of P5 students.
This event received high praise from visitors, including teachers, parents, and education policy makers. They recognized the additional educational value that students gain from participating in the P5 project. Many were inspired and motivated to get involved in similar efforts.
With the success of the P5 Project Exhibition, SMA N 1 Yogyakarta continues to demonstrate its commitment to producing students who are not only academically proficient but also possess the noble values of the Pancasila Student Profile. We hope that the P5 project continues and continues to have a positive impact on the community and the world around us. (Lestari)
